Q) What is the policy/procedure when an alumnus recommends an athlete to a coach or coaches?
A) Thank you for your question. Many times when I speak to Colgate Alumni Clubs that question does come up.
It is against NCAA rules for anyone other then our coaches to contact potential recruits so we encourage our alumni/ae to let us know when they know of potential student athletes in their area. That information can best be communicated by email or by sending newspaper articles directly to our coaches.
We do ask that our coaches to acknowledge receipt of the information and to let the alumni/ae know that they will take it from there. We do receive many more names and leads then we can recruit. The decision about whether to recruit someone is totally up to the coach based on athletic and academic ability.
