Is the Patriot League actively looking for or considering an eighth school for football?

Every year we take a look at what is going on in IAA football and talk about any changes that might be occurring that would allow us to attract a quality school to join the Patriot League. There are schools that have been interested but we want to make sure that if we add a school they be competitive and bring recognition to the League.

In reviewing Colgate's 2006 Football Media Guide, I noticed that there are open dates in 2009 and 2010. What schools are potential candidates to fill out the schedule?

As we look down the road at football scheduling we have one open date on 2009 and one in 2010. We are currently in discussion about an exciting away game for 2009 and looking for a home game for 9/4/10. In 2010 it is important to play on the first date so we have as much practice throughout the season as other schools.

Also, what schools, if any, is Colgate scheduled to play in football beyond 2010 that are not typically on the Colgate schedule?

We will be announcing sometime next week about an opponent we never played before that we have scheduled for after 2010. We are considering doing a series with another Southern Conference school similar to the series we are doing with Furman. We are also in discussion with an Ivy that we haven’t played in quite some time to play at least one game.
