New "Ask Dave" Feature
Q - I have noticed that a number of Patriot and Ivy League sports information departments report on the results of intra/inter squad scrimmages on an ongoing basis. I find it strange that where scrimmages will be highlighted on various Colgate team schedules there are no write-ups or results reported. In addition, several years ago Colgate reported JV football scores on the Raider website but this no longer happens. I am curious if there is a policy on the part of the athletic department to only report the scores of "formal" athletic events?
A - "Thank you for your question and your interest in ‘gate athletics. We have no firm policy on the reporting of scrimmage or Jayvee results. We do place some scrimmages on our schedules because they can be attended by the public while for example in basketball it is against NCAA rules for the public to be present. In addition some scrimmages use a regular game format while others are more controlled by the two coaches. We have not played any JV football games since the 2004 season therefore the lack of scores or results in that sport. I hope you would agree with me that our web site is very comprehensive and provides much information about our 25 varsity sports."
"I hope you can attend some of our games on campus or on the road. Also watch many of our home games on our all-access package. Have a great summer!"
