Q - The Men's Basketball team fought both Holy Cross and Bucknell, two of the best mid-major teams in the Northeast, to the final seconds before losing by three points to both. Yet, only 543 and 523 fans attended to watch those great games. Perhaps Colgate could increase turmout and give back to the community in this way: When Army and Navy visit, perhaps the military/national guard families in the area who have someone serving overseas could be invited to the game and perhaps a pizza party. Seeing the quality student-athletes from the Service Academies play generally makes anyone feel good about the military, in my opinion, and perhaps this, along with the knowledge that the Colgate community cares abbout them and appreciates their family members' efforts might help them get through the long winter a little more easily. If they want to cheer for Army or Navy, that would be fine, too and add a little more spirit to the old barn.

A - "Thanks for your question. Our men's basketball team played well and dropped close games to both Holy Cross and Bucknell. I've been very disappointed in our home attendance for both basketball teams. Your idea to invite military personnel to our games with Army and Navy is a worthwhile suggestion. This past fall we participated in the Wounded Warrior Program honoring a wounded veteran on Veterans Day prior to our home football game against Holy Cross."

Thanks for your support and interest.
