After 35 years of service athletic trainer Marty Erb is retiring from Colgate University.

He has been administratively responsible for the operation of the Colgate Sports Medicine program, as well as having additional responsibilities within the athletic department. As a certified athletic trainer, Erb has specific responsibilities with the women's soccer, softball, tennis and swimming programs.

He is a former President of the New York State Athletic Trainers’ Association, and currently serves as Chair of the NYSATA Hall of Fame Committee. He has spearheaded a successful effort to have athletic trainers recognized statewide by getting legislation passed to designate Athletic Trainer Week in New York. He is currently serving an appointment as a member of the New York State Committee on Athletic Trainers, a subcommittee of the State Board of Medicine.

Erb is a past recipient of the Maroon Citation Award and Hamilton High School’s Booster of the Year Award. In 2001 he was named Outstanding Athletic Trainer by the All-American Football Foundation. In January of 2003, he was given the Thomas J. Sheehan Sr. Award by the New York State Athletic Trainers Association, its highest honor. Training and Conditioning Magazine named Erb its May/June (2003) Above the Call winner for exemplary dedication and devotion to the profession of athletic training.

Erb was inducted into Colgate’s Athletic Hall of Honor this past September.
