Carly McNaughton was hired as a Colgate University assistant women’s ice hockey coach in June 2008.
McNaughton graduated from Colgate in 2007 with a degree in political science. A four-year letterwinner at forward, McNaughton has played in more games than any other player in Colgate history, skating in 138 games. She finished her career with 23 goals and 41 assists for 64 points, to sit in the top 15 in the career scoring list.
After receiving a medical redshirt for an illness in her third academic year, she returned as a captain and switched from a wing to a center, winning 544 draws.
As a senior captain in 2006-07, she helped guide the Raiders to their first appearance in the ECAC Hockey Semifinals, after sweeping Princeton in the quarterfinal series.
Highlighting her personal accomplishments, McNaughton was named the USCHO National Offensive Player of the Week in October, the first Raider to earn the award, after scoring the overtime goal against Yale and following up with the game winner over Brown the next day in the league’s opening weekend.
A two-year captain, McNaughton earned the team’s Sportsmanship Award in 2006 and 2007 and received the Coaches Award in 2007.
Following graduation, she returned to her hometown of Lethbridge, Alberta and accepted a job at the University of Lethbridge as an assistant women’s hockey coach.
