Chris Young is in his eighth season coaching the wide receivers for the Raiders.

He came to Colgate from the University at Albany where he worked with the Great Danes tackles and tight ends.  Prior to Albany, Young served on the Canisius College staff where he served as wide receiver coach for the 2002 season.  He worked five years in the financial industry before joining the Canisius staff.

In 2004, he saw both of Colgate’s starting wide receivers - Luke Graham and DeWayne Long - earn first team all-Patriot League honors.  Long also won all-league honors in 2005 under Young’s tutelage, while Erik Burke was all-league in 2006 and 2007 and Pat Simonds last fall.  Simonds was Colgate’s offensive MVP in 2008, and became the fifth player in school history to go over 1,000 receiving yards in a season.

Young was a three-year letterwinner for the Colgate Raiders while earning first team all-Patriot League honors in his senior season at tight end.  He was a linebacker his first three seasons with the Raiders.

Young, 35 years old, was born January 12, 1975 in Mt. Vernon, N.Y.  He graduated from Colgate in 1997 with a degree in sociology and anthropology.

He married Colgate’s women’s lacrosse coach Heather Bliss in July of 2009.
