ALBANY, N.Y. (3/29/07) – Eleven members of the Colgate University women's hockey team were named to the ECAC Hockey League's All-Academic Team, it was announced by the league office on Thursday, March 29.
Named to the team are:
Jill Cater-Cyker (Ithaca, N.Y.)
Marissa Dombovy (Webster, N.Y.)
Kiira Dosdall (Fairfield, Conn.)
Ruth Fish (Dewitt, N.Y.)
Tara French (Truro, N.S.)
Laura Jansen (Wilmette, Ill.)
Kara Leene (Waterbury, Vt.)
Nicole McDonald (Calgary, Alta.)
Sara Plunkett (Barrington, R.I.)
Beth Rotenberg (Toronto, Ont.)
Kate Wolgemuth (Anchorage, Alaska)
Freshmen Cater-Cyker, Dombovy, McDonald, Plunkett and Rotenberg are undeclared majors, along with sophomores Dosdall and Fish. Sophomore Jansen is a psychology major. Juniors Leene and Wolgemuth are majoring in sociology/anthropology and political science, respectively. The ECAC Hockey League Student-Athlete of the Year, senior French is a molecular biology major. She has been named to the all-academic team for the third straight season, while this is Leene's second appearance on the list.
Players are eligible for the all-academic team if they earned a cumulative grade point average of at least a 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have an average GPA of 3.00 over the past three semesters.
