Elin Brown (Calgary, Alta.) of the Colgate University women's hockey team was named the ECAC Hockey Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday, Jan. 28. This is Brown's first league honor.
Brown led the league in scoring this week with seven points, averaging 3.50 points per game, and was one of the top scorers in the nation this past weekend. She scored one goal and added six assists in Colgate's 1-0-1 weekend. Brown had a hand in all of the Raiders' seven goals, as they defeated Yale, 4-1 and took Brown to overtime, 3-3.
On Friday, she helped Colgate take a 1-0 lead, scoring for the Raiders midway through the first period and went on to earn an assist on a power-play goal, an even-strength goal and an empty-net goal. Her four points matched her career best outing. On Saturday, she assisted on two power-play goals, and an even-strength goal as Colgate came back from a two-goal deficit to tie Brown University.
Brown has a team-high 15 assists and eight goals to sit atop the scoring column with classmate Sam Hunt.
Colgate looks to jump Dartmouth in the league standings and into fourth place this weekend, as they play travel partner Cornell in a home-and-home series. The Raiders play host on Friday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m., and travel to Lynah Rink on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 4 p.m.
