HAMILTON, N.Y. (5/27/08) – The Colgate University women's soccer program continues to earn preseason plaudits by Soccer Buzz. The Raiders incoming recruits have set record highs in the conference, in the region and in the nation with the soccer publication's annual rankings.

The Class of 2012 captured the No. 1 ranking in the Patriot League last week and recently received the No. 4 ranking in the region, its highest rankings in program history. Ahead of Colgate are national powers Boston College, Connecticut and Harvard, leaving the Raiders with the top recruiting class in New York State.

Colgate also grabbed its highest national ranking in program history, taking No. 67 out of 320 Division I women's soccer programs.

Head coach Kathy Brawn and assistant coach Chris McLain have brought in a stellar class of 12 freshmen from 10 different states. They include one goalkeeper, four defenders, five midfielders and two forwards.

McLain recently returned from Sunrise, Fla., where he was invited to join the national staff and the U.S. Under-18 Women's National Team for training camp. Highlighting the camp was a couple of scrimmages against the U.S. Under-17 team, which is preparing for the 2008 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup this summer.
