Jim Nagle have announced the 2010 men’s lacrosse schedule. Among the games on this year’s home schedule are match-ups with Dartmouth (Feb. 27), Navy (March 27), and Lehigh (April 10).
The Raiders will play seven home games and six on the road including the season opener at Binghamton on Sat., Feb. 20 at 12 p.m. Other non-league games for Colgate include the home opener against Dartmouth (Feb. 27), versus Vermont (March 2), Hobart (March 6), at Harvard (March 16) and versus Fairfield (March 20).
Colgate’s first home game will be its 20th meeting against Dartmouth all-time, the Big Green own a 16-2-1 series lead and have won the last 10-meetings dating back to 1957. The Raiders will then host Vermont and Hobart before opening Patriot League play with a trip to Holy Cross on Sat., March 16 at 12 p.m. Colgate sports a 20-0 record against the Crusaders since the first meeting in 1990.
The remainder of the conference schedule is as follows: versus Navy (Feb. 27), at Army (April 3), versus Lehigh (April 10), versus Lafayette (April 16) and at Bucknell (April 24).
Navy is the defending tournament champion in the Patriot League. The Raiders topped the Mids, 10-9, during the regular season before falling 9-8 in triple overtime in the Patriot League Tournament. Navy finished 11-5 last season and lost to Duke in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.
This year’s Patriot League Tournament is set for May 1-3. The top four teams in the league standings will qualify for the tournament that will be hosted by the highest seed.
Colgate finishes its regular season with a big contest against Maryland on May 2, at Manhasset High School in Manhasset, N.Y. The Raiders are 0-5 all-time against the Terps, but have not faced Maryland since the 1959 season. Maryland finished 10-7 last season advancing all the way to the NCAA quarterfinals, before getting upended, 10-6, by eventual national champion Syracuse.
