HAMILTON, N.Y. (12/23/09) – Colgate senior wide receiver Pat Simonds (Sidney, N.Y.) has been named to the 2009 Sports Network All-America third team.

Simonds is only the third wide receiver in school history to achieve All-America status. Corey Hill ’98 was named to the AP first team in 1998, while Luke Graham ’04 made the Football Gazette third team in 2002.

Simonds finished the 2009 season with 66 catches for 1,012 yards and 14 touchdowns. His touchdown mark broke the previous record held by Tom Stenglein, who caught 13 touchdowns in 1985. Simonds is also the third wide receiver in school history to have consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Hill (1997-1998) and Graham (2002-2003) pulled off that feat as well. Simonds finished fourth in both career receptions and receiving yardage in the Colgate record books, and earned first team All-Patriot League honors in 2009.

Simonds was also selected to participate in the 85th East-West Shrine Game at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Jan. 23. The Shrine Game will kick off at 3 p.m. EST and be televised live on ESNP2.
