Simonds Receives Honorable Mention In Fabulous Fifty All-American Team

HAMILTON, N.Y. (12/30/09) – Postseason football awards continue to come in for Colgate University senior wide receiver Pat Simonds (Sidney, N.Y.). He recently received honorable mention honors from the College Sporting News Fabulous Fifty Division I FCS All-American team.

Earlier, Simonds was named to the to the 2009 Sports Network All-America third team.

Simonds finished the 2009 season with 66 catches for 1,012 yards and 14 touchdowns. His touchdown mark broke the previous record held by Tom Stenglein, who caught 13 touchdowns in 1985. Simonds is also the third wide receiver in school history to have consecutive 1,000-yard seasons. Corey Hill (1997-1998) and Luke Graham (2002-2003) pulled off that feat as well. Simonds finished fourth in both career receptions and receiving yardage in the Colgate record books, and earned first team All-Patriot League honors in 2009.

Simonds was also selected to participate in the 85th East-West Shrine Game at the Florida Citrus Bowl in Orlando on Jan. 23. The Shrine Game will kick off at 3 p.m. EST and be televised live on ESNP2.
