CENTER VALLEY, PA. (3/3/09) - Colgate freshman Tricia Oakes (Evergreen, Colo.) was named to the Patriot League All-Rookie team it was announced by the League office on Tuesday morning. Oakes was the only Colgate player named to one of the All-League teams this season.
Oakes has appeared in 21 games for the Raiders this season starting in all but one. In league play, she has led Colgate averaging 9.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.
A six-time Patriot League Rookie of the Week, Oakes was just two weekly awards shy of matching Bucknell’s Lindsey Hollobaugh for the most Patriot League Rookie of the Week awards in a season (8).
Oakes recorded three double-doubles in her rookie season at Colgate pulling down a career-high 12 rebounds along with 12 points for her first double-double of the year against Bryant on Dec. 28. She has scored a career-high 16 points three times this season, against St. Francis (N.Y.) Albany and Penn and collected a career-high 4 blocks against top-ranked Lehigh on Jan. 21.
The Raiders finished the regular season with a 5-24 overall record and a 1-13 mark in Patriot League play. Colgate heads into the Patriot League Tournament as the No. 8 seed and will play top-seeded Lehigh on March 7 at Stabler Arena on the Lehigh campus. The Raiders and Mountain Hawks meet for the third time this season with tip-off scheduled for noon.
