Sam Howell Schedule of Events
HAMILTON, N.Y. (4/2/09)—The Colgate University men’s track and field team will look to continue to improve their times and distances this weekend at the Sam Howell Invitational hosted by Princeton University. The distance carnival will get things started on April 3 at 4:00 p.m.
A collection of Colgate athletes will head to Princeton to compete in the Sam Howell Invitational, while a few others will compete at the Hamilton Spring Fling at Hamilton College.
Junior Lyle Tolli (Lockport, N.Y.) and sophomore Ed Sheridan (Phillipsburg, N.J.) both will compete in the distance carnival for the Raiders on Friday night. Tolli will represent Colgate in the 1,500-meter run at 6:45 p.m. Sheridan will line up for the 5,000-meter run at 7:30 p.m.
The Raiders will look for strong sprinting performances at Princeton as well. Junior Phil Natoli (Fayetteville, N.Y.) won the 400-meter hurdles at Navy last weekend, with the second best time 54.92 in the Patriot League.
Senior Mike Walden (Oak Park, Ill.) also looks for a good showing. Walden placed-third with a 22.80, in the 200-meter dash at Navy, which sits fifth in the Patriot League this season. Walden is also a valuable member of both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays.
In the 400-meter dash freshman Graham Tooker (Devon, Pa.) and sophomore Dan Schwaibold (Atlanta, Ga.) both look to improve on their top-10 finishes from last week.
The Raiders will also compete at Hamilton College in the Spring Fling meet on Saturday, April 4, beginning at 11 a.m.
