HAMILTON, N.Y. (6/26/09)— The Colgate University athletic department has announced the 2009 Women’s Athletics Donor Challenge Participation Champion. The track and field team registered an outstanding increase of 224 donors over the 2008 fiscal year.
Nine other teams also increased their number of donors from the prior year with eight of those programs more than doubling their number of donors from the previous year.
The Women’s Challenge was designed for the women’s varsity sports to help fund critical program needs. Several generous alumni and parents contributed to create the $100,000 challenge fund in an effort to help promote women’s athletics in a unique and spirited way.
Overall, the there were 1,767 donors to women’s athletics in 2009 compared to 665 in 2008, an increase of 1,102.
