HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/19/2009)—Sophomore
Elise DeRoo led the Colgate University women's cross country team to third place on Saturday at the Colgate Invitational. DeRoo shattered the Colgate record time in the 6k race.
DeRoo finihsed ninth overall with a personal-best and school record time of 22:24, one minute faster than the previous record of 23:24 posted by Elizabeth Kennedy in 2006.
Syracuse won the meet placing all five harriers in the top-5 for a low score of 15 points. Colgate placed five runners in the top-20 to accumulate 75 points for third place.
Sophomore
Kelly Cattano, and juniors
Hilary Hooley and
Julie Tarallo finished 15th, 16th and 17th overall with times of 23:47, 23:56 and 24:01, respectively.
Senior
Emily Oliver and freshman
Jean Sauter rounded out the Raiders, hitting the tape in 24:16 and 24:31.
Colgate hits the course again on Oct. 3, at the Paul Short Invitational the meet is set to begin at 11:00 a.m.
