The Colgate University men's cross country team gets its 2009 season started on Saturday, Sept. 5, hosting the annual Harry Lang Invitational. The men will run in a 6k and 4200-meter race at the same time. The men's race is set to start at 12:15 p.m.
2009 SEASON OUTLOOK
The Raiders recently were tabbed to finish tied for sixth with Bucknell in the Patriot League this season according to the league's coaches and sports information directors. Colgate returns 15 runners from last year's squad, including junior Ed Sheridan (Phillipsburg, N.J.). Sheridan along with juniors Griffith Cannon (Kensington, Calif.), and Grant Stauffer (Thomasville, Ga.) were Colgate's top runners for much of the 2008 season.
Other top runners returning for the Raiders are junior Ed Boulat (Larchmont, N.Y.) and sophomore Tim Metivier (Tonawanda, N.Y.). The Raiders also welcome back seniors Lyle Tolli (Lockport, N.Y.) and Jeremy Fisher (Fredericksburg, Va.). Tolli was Colgate's top runner in 2007, his first-year of cross country earning all-Patriot League second team recognition with a 10th-place finish at the Patriot League Championship. Fisher ran among the top five twice in 2007, turning in a season-best time at the IC4A Championship.
