Colgate Women's Basketball Welcomes Three for 2009-10

Head coach Pam Bass announces the 2009 newcomers
HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/3/09) -   Head women’s basketball coach Pam Bass has announced the 2009 recruiting class for the Colgate University women’s basketball team. Signing National Letters of Intent are Lulu Brase (Lake Wylie, S.C.) and Jhazmine Lynch (San Diego, Calif.). Also joining the team for the 2009-10 season is freshman Rebekah Ward (Montreal, Canada).
 
“We are excited to add the Colgate Class of 2013,” commented Bass.  “They will bring exciting, new dimensions to the program.”
 
Brase, standing at 6-2 will provide size and depth to the Raiders center position. Lynch, a point guard on the Mater Dei Catholic State Championship team, will bring even more skill and depth to the front court. Ward a guard from Montreal, Canada brings a determination and drive to the guard position.

A four-year letter winner and starter as a center for head coach Bobby Long at Gaston Day School… Averaged 16.1 points, 13.5 rebounds and 3.4 blocks during her senior year… Led the Spartans as captain during her junior and senior years… Spartans were three-time 1A State Champions during her career … Achieved 1,000 point club member status during her senior year ... Averaged 10.4 points, 11.0 rebounds and 1.1 blocks during her career at Gaston Day…Four-time selection to All-Conference teams ... Two-time All-State team selection … Named to the All-Regional team as a senior … Selected twice as All-Gazette Team and First Team All- Tournament … Named SPAA Conference MVP… …also lettered in soccer and track and field.

Jhazmine Lynch
San Diego, Calif. – Point Guard
Mater Dei Catholic
A four-year letter winner at point guard for head coach David Monroe at Mater Dei Catholic High School… Averaged 15 points, 4 assists and 3 steals during her senior year …Team record was 103-16 during her career at Mater Dei … Led team as captain her senior year … Lady Crusaders were the C.I.F. California State Champions during her senior year … Twice named to the Union Tribune San Diego first team and Cal Hi Sports All-State teams … Selected to the Breithbard San Diego Hall of Champions first team… Named to the CIF Senior All-Star team collecting 12 points, 5 assists and 4 rebounds in the All-star game…Lettered in volleyball and track as well during her high school career.
Bass on Lynch: “Jhazmine will bring speed, explosion and depth to the point guard position.  She is a proven winner joining us after a state championship season and having lost only 16 games during her high school career.”

Dawson College
A guard who played under head coach Trevor Williams for the Dawson College Blues … Dawson was the third ranked team in Canada in 2009 … had a game-high 48 points as a senior … The Blues were 2008-09 Provincials Champions
Bass on Ward: “Rebekah brings a work ethic and drive that will help our program overall.  Her ability to overcome a knee injury and be in competitive shape speaks to her mental toughness.  She will make us stronger in practice on a daily basis.”
