Colgate's Ross Selected by Chivas USA in MLS SuperDraft

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (1/14/10) -  Colgate’s Chris Ross (Hurst, Texas)  has been drafted by Chivas USA in the fourth round of the MLS SuperDraft which took place Thursday afternoon in Philadelphia, Pa. The senior stand-out is the first Colgate player to be selected in the SuperDraft since it began in 2000.
 
Ross was the fifth pick for Chivas and one of three mid-fielders drafted by the organization. The Colgate senior, who graduated early to pursue an opportunity with professional soccer, played in 67 games for the Raiders collecting eight goals and nine assists over his career. Ross finished his senior season with eight points off of two goals and four assists and was chosen first team All-Patriot League.
 
"I am thrilled for Chris” stated Colgate head coach Erik Ronning. “This is certainly a testament to his dedication to the game over the years. He has worked extremely hard to get to this point, and I could not be more proud of him."
 
Chivas USA finished the 2009 season 13-11-6 and advanced to the MLS Cup Playoffs where they fell to the top team in the west division, L.A. Galaxy. Chivas will open the 2010 season Sunday, March 28 against the Colorado Rapids.
