HAMILTON, N.Y. (1/24/2010) – Erin McGraw (Penfield, N.Y.)
was a quadruple winner and Caren Guyett (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.), Kim Siembieda (Narbeth, Pa.) and Emma Santoro (Fall River, Mass.) were triple winners as Colgate posted a 189-110 victory over visiting UMass, Sunday in women’s swimming action at Lineberry Natatorium.

The Raiders, who improved to 6-3 overall, tallied their 11th consecutive win at Lineberry with the victory over the Minutewomen.

McGraw’s individual wins came in the 200 fly and 200 back as the junior led one-two-three sweeps in both races.  McGraw tallied a 2:05.47 to win the fly ahead of Guyett (2:06.25) and Lia Kunnapas (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J.), who touched in 2:10.01.  She returned to win the 200 back (2:05.82) ahead of Sarah Button (Mendham, N.J.) and Siembieda.  McGraw was also a member of both winning relays. She teamed with Caitie Curran (Alpharetta, Ga.), Guyett and Siembieda to post a 3:58.24 in the 400 medley relay and then closed out the meet with Siembieda, Kunnapas, and Guyett to prevail in the 400 free relay (3:31.55).

Colgate’s final one-two-three sweep came in the 500 free as Guyett (5:01.92) placed ahead of Erica Derlath (Garden City, N.Y.) and Erika Mortenson (Chesterfield, Mo.).  The junior’s winning time missed the Lineberry pool record by less than .5 of a second.

Santoro’s three wins all came in individual events.  The freshman and Sarah Sciarrino (Buffalo, N.Y.) placed first and second in the 200 free with times of 1:55.96 and 1:58.78 respectively.  Santoro returned to then sweep both the 100 (1:07.72) and 200 (2:26.25) breast events.

The other Colgate wins came in the 100 back, 1650 free, 100 free, and three-meter diving.  Siembieda (1:00.54) edged Button (1:00.60) in the 100 back, while Derlath had little trouble in the 1650.  The sophomore posted a winning 17:22.53, which won the event by 26 seconds.  Kunnapas posted a 53.90 to win the 100 free. Kim Pilka (Great Falls, Va.) copped the top spot in three-meter diving 256.58) after placing second in one-meter competition.

Colgate did see one school record fall.  Despite a third place finish, the combination of Kunnapas, Santoro, Ryan Marynowski (White Plains, N.Y.) and Christy Butrus (Dallas, Texas) posted a 4:01.20 to erase the school’s freshman record.  The former mark of 4:04.48 was set in 2005.

The Raiders return to action Saturday afternoon as it hosts Army and Lafayette in a tri-meet.  The meet, which starts at 1 p.m., will serve as Senior Day.
