Ethan Cox
Ethan Cox is up for the BNY Hockey Humanitarian Award once again

HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/3/2010) – Ethan Cox (Richmond, B.C.) once again represents Colgate on the list of nominees for the 2010 BNY Mellon Hockey Humanitarian Award, it was announced.

Cox is among 18 college hockey players nominated for the prestigious award and is one of four repeat nominees from 2009.  The senior was a finalist for the same award the previous two seasons.

Joining the assistant captain as repeat nominees are Denver’s Brandon Vossberg, St. Cloud State’s Caitlin Hogan, and Brockport’s Todd Sheridan.  Other nominated players include Bobby Butler (New Hampshire), Kevin Deeth (Notre Dame), Kirsten Dier (Amherst), Jon Globke (New England College), Barry Goers (UMass-Lowell), Dion Knelsen (Alaska), Sam Kuzyk (Adrian), Shareef Labreche (Buffalo State), Zach Miller (Williams), Mario Mjelleli (Augsburg), Brigid O’Gorman (Connecticut College), Jordan Pietrus (Brown), Garrett Raboin (St. Cloud State), and Brett Watson (UMass).

The finalists will be announced later this month with the winner being announced in conjunction with the Frozen Four in Detroit on April 9.

Earlier in the year, Cox hosted his annual toy and canned food drives during the holiday season.  This year, it was a joint drive instead of two separate drives due to the fact the Raiders played their last home game in 2009 on November 21.  The drive was a success raising 1,000 pounds of canned food, 150 toys and $650 in cash in one evening.  The proceeds went to the Hamilton Food Cupboard and the Interfaith Holiday Council.
