Roemer, Rolls Named to All-Patriot League Teams
Rolls
Kyle Roemer (L) and Mitch Rolls (R)
HAMILTON, N.Y. (3/1/10) - Colgate University senior Kyle Roemer (Martinez, Calif.) and freshman Mitch Rolls (Coffeyville, Kan.) were both named to all-Patriot League teams on Monday, March 1.

Roemer was named to the all-Patriot League first-team, while Rolls was named to the all-Rookie team. Roemer is the first Raider on the first team since Pat Campolieta in 2002, while Rolls is the third straight Raider to join the all-Rookie team.

"Kyle has had an incredible career at Colgate and a great final season to date,” said head coach Emmett Davis. “He leads our team in scoring, rebounding and steals and is special leader and a fiery competitor. His perseverance and determination coming back from two career threatening, season ending injuries serves as an inspiration to everyone in our program and it is great to see him gain this first team all-league recognition from our league's head coaches"

Roemer has started all 28 games this season for Colgate and is second in the Patriot League with 18.9 points per game. Roemer also leads the team in rebounding and steals with 5.7 and 1.5 per game.

Roemer became just the 12th player in Patriot League history to go over 1,600 career points. Roemer passed the mark during a 23-point effort against Holy Cross on Wednesday, and now occupies 11th place in League annals with 1,625 points. He became just the fifth player in Colgate history with 1,600 points, and first since Adonal Foyle with 1,600 points and 400 rebounds. Roemer is also climbing the Patriot League record book for three-pointers made with 264, for eighth.

"Being a first year point guard normally comes with some growing pains but over the last two months of the season Mitch has been playing at a very high level," stated Davis. "He is running the team with the confidence of an upperclassman and this has been one of the main reasons that we have been able to go 4-3 during the second half of league play".

In his rookie season, Rolls has played in all 28 games with 25 starting assignments for the Raiders. Rolls is fourth on the team in scoring with 6.8 points per game and leads the team with 99 assists and is fifth in the Patriot League with 3.5 assists per game.

Over the last five games Rolls has averaged 12.6 points and 5.4 assists per game. Rolls is also one assist shy of 100 this season, he would be the first Raider to accomplish that feat since Dave Hardy dished out 120 during the 2002-03 campaign.

Colgate (10-18, 6-8) will travel to Lafayette on Wednesday, March 3 for a quarterfinal game in the Patriot League Tournament. The game can be seen live on Patriot League All-Access.
