Colgate Field Hockey Receives Academic Honors

Sarah Pedersen was one of seven Raiders to be recognized by the NFHCA for their academic achievements.
CHANDLER, ARIZ  (3/27/2010) –  Seven members of the Colgate field hockey team were named to the 2009 Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad, it was recently announced.

 Senior Sarah Pedersen (State College, Pa.), the 2009 Patriot League Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year, headlined the honorees for the Raiders.  Pedersen along with Mika Ella-Tang (Port of Spain, Trinidad) were both four-year mentions on the national academic squad.  One must post a 3.30 grade point average in the first semester to qualify for the honor.  Also representing Colgate on the national academic squad was Laura Denenga (Harare, Zimbabwe), Sara Kongkatong (Stroudsburg, Pa.), Kirsten Lalli (Pound Ridge, N.Y.), Elaine Thurman (Houston, Texas), and Allison Waugh (Briarcliff Manor, N.Y.).

 The Raiders were also one of 58 Division I programs to qualify for team honors as well.  Programs must post a team grade point average of 3.0 in the first semester to qualify.
