HAMILTON, N.Y. (3/8/2010) - On Saturday March 6, 66 members of the Colgate field hockey family gathered for a reception and dinner at the Colgate Inn. The dinner served as the “pre-game” event prior to Sunday’s Alumnae Spring 7 v 7 Tournament held in Sanford Field House.
Alumnae representing the classes of 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009 and the outgoing class of 2010 all competed on three teams, while the current Raiders served as the fourth team in a round robin tournament. The current Raiders defeated the “Turf Biddies” 3-1 in the tournament final for the championship. Playing for the Biddies were; Mariah Contreas ‘03 and Sara Corcoran ‘03, Courtney Collins ‘05, Sally Mazzocchi ‘05, Ashley Wilson ‘05, Nancy Miller ‘05, Natalie Heller ‘05, Kath Shelley ‘05, and Kelly McKallagat ‘05, as well as Lauren Remkus ‘08 and Maddie Watrobski ‘09.
The two remaining teams were composed of alumnae from the CNY area and current students who have recently retired. Competing for the “Skulls of CNY” were Natali Plesniarski ‘08 and Molly Kimball ‘08, Jacque DeMarco ‘07, current assistant coach Beth Maddox, head coach Cathy Foto, as well as Amber Ronning, Shaun Richardson and Ann-Marie Guglieri - all friends of Colgate field hockey. Representing the “Has Beens” team were Katelyn Nerbonne ‘10, Mika-Ella Tang ‘10, Erin Clark ‘10, Jenna Knoll ‘10, Courtney Kuntz ‘10, and Mary Charles Anderson ‘10, Kate Hollnagel ‘11 and Rebecca Anderson ‘11, as well as Anna Hopkins ‘12 and Erin Leon ‘12.
Following the tournament there was a reception for alumni, family, and friends in attendance for the games. The weekend’s events were sponsored by the Corner Club. The Corner Club has been an important resource for the field hockey program. Its’ members are former players, family members, friends and fans of the Colgate field hockey program. March 27th @ Lehigh Tournament vs. Lehigh and Fairfield
April 10th @ Quinnipiac Tournament
