HAMILTON, N.Y. (4/13/10) - The Colgate women’s tennis team is set to host the Patriot League Women’s Tennis Tournament this weekend April 16-18 at the J.W. Abrahamson Memorial Courts in Hamilton, N.Y.
The seedings for the tournament were released on Tuesday afternoon with the Raiders receiving the No. 4 seed. Colgate will take on fifth-seeded Lehigh in the quarterfinals and is set to play at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 16. Also scheduled to play on Friday are third-seeded Navy against sixth-seeded Holy Cross at 2 p.m. and No. 2 Bucknell against No. 7 Lafayette at 6 p.m. Pre-season favorite Army received the No. 1 seed and a bye for the quarterfinals.
This will be the first time Colgate has hosted the women’s tournament since the 1995 season when the Raiders earned the top seed in the league. The Raiders have not won the Patriot League Tournament title since 1997, when as the No. 1 seed they defeated second-seeded Army, 6-3, in the finals.
The Colgate women enter this year’s tournament with an 8-6 overall record and a 2-2 mark in Patriot League play. The Raiders, whose first-round opponent is Lehigh, recently defeated the Mountain Hawks, 5-2, this past weekend on April 10 in Bethlehem, Pa.
In the event of inclement weather, the tournament will be held indoors at the Sportsplex Tennis Courts at Turning Stone in Verona, N.Y.

Quarterfinal 2: No. 3 Navy vs. No. 6 Holy Cross at 2 p.m.
Quarterfinal 3: No. 2 Bucknell vs. No. 7 Lafayette at 6 p.m.
Saturday, April 17
Semifinal 1: No. 1 Army vs. No. 4/5 Winner at 10 a.m.
Semifinal 2: No. 3/6 Winner vs. No. 2/7 Winner at 2 p.m.
