Michael Yassky
LEWISBURG, Pa. (4/23/10) -   The Colgate men’s tennis dropped its Patriot League quarterfinal match, 4-1, to Lehigh at Bucknell’s Varsity Courts on Friday afternoon. The Raiders finish the season 9-8 overall with a 3-2 league record during the regular season.

The Raiders started off strong earning wins in both second and third doubles to claim the first point. Senior Michael Yassky (New York, N.Y.) and freshman Parker Lewis (Littleton, Col.) downed Lehigh’s Cameron Silbert and Arnaldo Pacheco, 8-5, in the No. 2 position. Rookie duo Alec Goldstein (Bethesda, Md.) and Harry Jewett (Centennial, Col.) outlasted Matt Savran and Ryan Krueger, 9-8 (4), in third doubles action.

In singles action, the Raiders were unable to hold off the Mountain Hawks who claimed the first four matches for the win. Junior Phil Bernasek (Fairfield, Conn.), who was moved into the second singles position for the tournament, took the first set from Lehigh’s Colin Laffey but dropped the next two, 1-6, 6-3, 6-3. Yassky and Goldstein did not finish their No. 1 and No. 3 matches, respectively, but both split sets.
