Men's Lacrosse Lands Four on All-Patriot League Teams

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (4/27/10)—Four members of the Colgate University men’s lacrosse team recently were named to the all-Patriot League teams the league office announced on April 27. The Raiders earned two spots on both the first and second teams.
Freshman sensation Peter Baum (Portland, Ore.) and senior captain Michael Crown (Winnetka, Ill.) earned first-team honors, while juniors Jim Carroll (Nesconset, N.Y.) and Greg Perkins (Alexandria, Va.) were voted to the second team.
Army and Bucknell led the way with six players represented on the two teams.
Baum was voted on the first-team, the midfielder broke the Colgate freshman record for single-season goals with 27, breaking the previous mark of 19 set by Brandon Corp '09 in 2006. Baum, the Lincoln High School product, has recorded a team-high six hat tricks and been named the Patriot League Rookie of the Week three times this season.
Crown was voted on the first-team for the first time after receiving second-team accolades last season. Crown leads the team with a career-high 16 caused turnovers and 51 groundballs. The New Trier High School product leads all defensemen on the team with a career-high five points off four goals and one assist.
Perkins earned a spot on the all-Patriot League second-team defense for the second straight season. The St. Stephen’s & Agnes High School product has played all 12 games for Colgate and is fourth on the team with seven caused turnovers and 21 groundballs.
Carroll was named to the all-Patriot League second-team after winning 59 percent of his faceoffs. Carroll, the St. Anthony's High School product, is also second on the team with 48 groundballs.
The Raiders conclude their season as they face Maryland on Saturday (May 8) for the third annual Lacrosse Day of Champions at Manhasset High School.
