LEWISBURG, Pa. (4/30/10)— Colgate University sophomore
Elise DeRoo (Newton, Conn.) won the 10,000-meter run title during the first day of competition at the Patriot League Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship at Bucknell.
The Raiders sit fifth after the first day with 16 points, while the host school Bucknell is first with 58 points.
DeRoo, who holds the fastest time in the Patriot League in the 5,000-meter run, ran the 10K for the first time this season and won the individual title with a personal-record time of 37:42.09.
Sophomore
Kelly Cattano (New Providence, N.J.) also ran in the 10K, finishing fourth overall with a time of 38:45.21.
Senior
Ashley Niness (Berwyn, Pa.) advanced to the finals of the 200-meter dash after finishing second in her heat and fifth overall with a time of 25.91.
Colgate resumes competition tomorrow with the running events beginning at 10:45 a.m.
