Three Raiders Garner PL Accolades
Stephanie Hartquist
Stephanie Hartquist received all-league honors for the second consecutive season.
CENTER VALLEY, PA (5/11/2010)  – Three members of the Colgate softball program received all-league honors as the Patriot League announced its end of season awards, Tuesday morning.

Junior Nicole Siedhof (Canton, Pa.) and sophomore Stephanie Hartquist (Homer, N.Y.) were both named first team selections, while freshman Alana Dyson (Grovetown, Ga.) was chosen to the second team.

Siedhof, who has started all 46 games behind the plate for coach Vickie Sax’s Raiders, enters Thursday’s matchup with Army in the Patriot League Tournament as one of Colgate’s top offensive threats.  In 2010, she has posted a .290 batting average; has hit five homers and has driven in 36 runs.  Over the course of the season, Siedhof has recorded six multi-hit games and has driven in two or more runs 11 times.  In addition, she has knocked in 14 of her 36 runs with two outs in an inning, the second most on the roster.  Siedhof is one of three Raiders to put together a double-figured game hit streak in the 2010 campaign.  From March 13-19, she notched at least one hit in 10 consecutive games, which is the third longest this season.

In her second year, Hartquist has posted a banner season for the Raiders after making the transition from the outfield to third base.  She enters the Patriot League Tournament not only as one of the best hitters in the league, but in the nation as well.  In 46 games, Hartquist, a second team selection in 2009,  has a .420 average with one homer and a team-best 39 RBI.  Her 60 hits on the year is tied for second on Colgate’s single season list and is four shy of tying Melissa Rawson’s school record of 64 set back in 2001.  Hartquist has also entered the single-season top 10 list in runs scored (37, tied for seventh), RBI (39, tied for fifth) and doubles (14, fifth).  From March 17 to April 21, she tallied a team-best 24-game hit streak.  In addition, she is also one of the toughest hitters to strike out nationally, fanning only seven times in 143 at bats.

Dyson was one of three outfielders named to the second team.  The freshman made immediate impact on the roster starting all 46 games.  With at least two games remaining, Dyson is hitting .381 with no homers and 14 RBI.  She posted Colgate’s second longest hitting streak of the year, a 15-game stretch from March 13-28 and currently has 13 multi-hit games on her resume.  The freshman has already made an impact on Colgate’s record books and single-season top 10 as well.  Her 39 runs scored not only leads the team, but broke the rookie record for a single season.  In addition to having the fourth highest runs scored total for a single season, her 56 hits ranks tied for ninth, while her four triples is tied for fifth.  Dyson has a team-best 19 stolen bases on the season, which is three away from breaking the single-season record.

Colgate, 25-21 overall, returns to action Thursday as it opens the Patriot League Tournament against top-seeded Army in West Point.  The game is set for a 4:30 p.m. start at the Army Softball Complex.  The three-day, double elimination tournament will conclude Saturday with the winner gaining the automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament.
