HAMILTON, N.Y. (5/24/10) – Colgate University sophomore Elise DeRoo (Newton, Conn.) has earned a berth into the NCAA East Region Championship, which is set for Memorial Day weekend in Greensboro, N.C.

DeRoo, the Patriot League champion in the 5,000-meter run, is the first Raider to make an NCAA postseason appearance since 2006.

The NCAA adjusted its qualifying format from past seasons and now only takes the top-48 season-best times in each event.

DeRoo heads to Greensboro ranked 35th in the East Region, with a time of 16:35.61 in the 5K. DeRoo posted her time and shattered the school record at the Sam Howell Invitational.

The 5K is scheduled to begin at 8:45 p.m. on Saturday, May 29.
