CENTER VALLEY, Pa. (5/4/10) - Senior captain Elise DeRose (Williamsville, N.Y.) of the Colgate women’s tennis team was named to the All-Patriot League second team, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, May 4.
DeRose has now been named to an All-league team all four years at Colgate. This year marks her second time on the second-team. She has also earned two first-team nods in past seasons. DeRose posted a 5-9 overall record at first singles during the spring season, including a 1-3 mark in the Patriot League. She went 1-1 in Patriot League tournament action at the No. 1 spot downing Lehigh’s Julie Arthofer to help lead the Raiders into the semifinals.
In doubles action, DeRose partnered with classmate Cameron Williams at the No. 1 spot. The duo claimed an overall record of 7-7 and went 2-2 in conference play.
Patriot League champion Army led the conference with five All-Patriot League selections followed by runner-up Bucknell with three selections.
The Colgate women closed out the 2010 season with a 9-7 record overall and a 2-2 mark in league play. The Raiders earned a No. 4 seed for the Patriot League tournament which they hosted for the first time in 15 years. They defeated fifth-seeded Lehigh, 4-1, to advance to the semifinals where they fell to top-seeded Army, 4-0.
