Brawn Named the 2009-10 Howard Hartman Coach of the Year
Kathy Brawn
HAMILTON, N.Y. (5/5/10) -   Colgate Head Women's Soccer Coach, Kathy Brawn, was named the 2009-2010 Howard Hartman Coach of the Year. The award is given to the coach who has demonstrated the ability to motivate, to instill discipline, to help build character and perseverance, to display resourcefulness and to be adept at teaching the fundamentals of their sport.

This past fall, Brawn's team, won an unprecedented 10th Patriot League Championship and advanced to the NCAA Division I Women's Soccer tournament for the fifth time.

Brawn stated," I'm both humbled and honored to receive the Hartman. I feel fortunate to be coaching this wonderful group of student-athletes and working with fantastic assistant coaches."

This is the fourth time Brawn has received the Hartman. Brawn is just the 2nd coach in Colgate history to have won the award on four separate occasions. Currently, Brawn ranks 39th by percentage and 26th by victories, among the 322 current Division I women's soccer coaches.

Interim President Lyle Roelofs commented: Coach Brawn is very deserving of the Hartman Award. She has a long and impressive track record of success at Colgate, fielding consistently strong teams which play at a very high level nationally and have the resilience to overcome adversity. Coach Brawn has built her program on the strong foundation of student-athletes who represent the Colgate student body well, and in the admirable tradition of the Patriot League are representative of it. Her players are fine students who graduate and make us proud.

Brawn will be accepting her award in May at the University Convocation Ceremony.
