Men's Lacrosse Release #11: Raiders Face No. 3 Maryland in Manhasset, N.Y.

The Colgate men’s lacrosse team will conclude its season on Saturday (May 8) against No. 3/3 Maryland at the Indians Rock Community Foundation Lacrosse Day of Champions in Manhasset, N.Y. The game is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. at Manhasset High School and will be televised on Verizon FiOS 1 Sports.

MARYLAND SERIES NOTES
The Raiders and Terps are facing-off for the sixth time with Maryland leading the all-time series 5-0. The Terps won last the last meeting 17-3 in 1959.

SCOUTING THE RAIDERS (3-9, 2-4 PL)
The Raiders fell to 3-9 overall, 2-4 in Patriot League play following a, 8-7, overtime loss at Bucknell. The loss snapped the Raiders two-game win streak, and knocked them out of contention for the final Patriot League Tournament seed. Ben McCabe and Peter Baum lead Colgate up front. McCabe has 32 points off 24 goals and eight assists, while Baum, has a team-high 27 goals to go with his one assist. Patrick Campbell leads the team with 12 assists, while Michael Crown headlines the defense with five points, 51 groundballs and 16 forced turnovers. Jared Madison and Tim Harrington have split time between the pipes with Madison leading the way with a 8.57 GAA and .565 save percentage, while Harrington has a 10.54 GAA.

SCOUTING MARYLAND (10-3, 1-2 ACC)
The Terps improved to 10-3 overall following a 17-4, win over Fairfield. Grant Catalino, leads Maryland with 50 points off 31 goals and 19 assists. Ryan Young leads the team with 26 assists and is second with 40 points, while Travis Reed has 29 points. Brian Phipps leads the Terps between the pipes with a 8.28 GAA and .543 save percentage.

TOP BOSS
Colgate University head coach Jim Nagle is in his ninth season at the helm of the Colgate lacrosse program. He sports a 75-58 record and is 140-96 in his 14 seasons as a head coach. His 74 victories and .562 win percentage are the second most by a Colgate men’s lacrosse coach. Harvey Potter has the most wins with 80 victories, while Michael Toop (1988-91) has the best win percentage at .708 (34-14). Nagle has guided Colgate to its first Patriot League Tournament Championship, its highest national ranking, and a 14-4 record in Patriot League play over the past three seasons. The Raiders posted three straight 11-win seasons for the first time in history under Nagle’s watch.

RAIDERS LAND FOUR ON ALL-PATRIOT LEAGUE TEAMS
Four members of the Colgate University men’s lacrosse team recently were named to the all-Patriot League teams the league office announced on April 27. The Raiders earned two spots on both the first and second teams.
Freshman sensation Peter Baum (Portland, Ore.) and senior captain Michael Crown (Winnetka, Ill.) earned first-team honors, while juniors Jim Carroll (Nesconset, N.Y.) and Greg Perkins (Alexandria, Va.) were voted to the second team.

BAUM, MADISON EARN PL WEEKLY HONORS
A pair of Colgate men’s lacrosse players were selected as Patriot League Weekly Award Honorees by the league office on Monday, April 19. Freshman Peter Baum was named Rookie of the Week, while sophomore Jared Madison (Lawrenceville, N.J.) was named Goalkeeper of the Week.
This is the third time Baum has been honored with the league award this season, the first time for Madison.

NAGLE NAMED USILA ALL-STAR GAME NORTH COACH
Colgate head coach Jim Nagle has been named the head coach for the Division I/II North Team at the 68th annual USILA/Lax World North/South Senior All-Star Games.
The games will take place at Goucher College, Baltimore, Md. on Friday, May 28 as part of a doubleheader. The Division III game will be played at 3 p.m. and the Division I/II game will be played at 5:30 p.m.

MCCLELLAND NAMED TO TEAM CANADA FINAL ROSTER
Colgate men’s lacrosse senior Ryan McClelland (Brampton, Ont.) was selected as one of the final 24 players to the Team Canada roster.
McClelland is one of two college players named to the final roster that will represent Canada at the World Championships in Manchester, England in July.

RAIDERS FACE MARYLAND AT LACROSSE DAY OF CHAMPIONS
The Colgate University men’s Lacrosse team will join the Indians Rock Community Foundation for its third annual Lacrosse Day of Champions at Manhasset High School. The Day of Champions will feature two events spread out over four separate days.
The Raiders will headline the second event on May 8th as they take on Maryland at Manhasset High School. Defending New York state high-school champion Manhasset versus conference rival Cold Spring Harbor will follow the Colgate-Maryland game.
The Lacrosse Day of Champions events start on Friday, March 5 with youth tournaments for grades 4-9. Some slots are still available, and teams can register at www.irockfundhome.org. Each team will be guaranteed at least three games. Each roster player will receive complimentary tickets to both the March 6 Haverford-St. Lawrence game and the May 8 Maryland-Colgate game. Visit the web site for more details about the tournament and registration.
Tickets for the May 8th Colgate-Maryland game will be priced at $10 for adults and $5 for those 18 years and younger. Tickets will go on sale April 1st at the www.irockfundhome.org web site, and the game is expected to be a sell-out.
