Football Attends Uplifting Athlete's Leadership Conference
Lift for Life
HAMILTON, N.Y. (6/15/10) – Colgate University football players Greg Sullivan (Monroe, N.Y.) and Kevin Morgan (Vero Beach, Fla.) both attended the Uplifting Athlete’s Leadership Conference, in Camp Hill, Pa., on June 11-13.

At the conference, Sullivan and Morgan met with Uplifting Athletes Executive Director Scott Shirley, Uplifting Athlete’s Communications and Operation’s Jaime Fetrow, the Kidney Cancer Association’s Carolyn Konosky, and Goodman Solution’s Dean Spiridon, along with leadership positions of the Penn State, Ohio State, Boston College, and Maryland Uplifting Athletes Chapters.

During their time at the conference, Sullivan and Morgan received instruction on marketing, accounting, public affairs, fundraising, and strategic chapter planning. Each informational session gave them the resources to further the success of their already prospering chapter. However, the most valuable resource was the ability to meet with the four other chapter presidents and their accompanying staff member.

In between and during sessions, the seven student-athletes in attendance conversed in the same room for the betterment of Uplifting Athletes rather than solely their individual chapters. In discussion, a chapter would bring up a current issue and the group would help that chapter’s leadership work through it.

“Personally, I feel that the conference set the footing for Colgate to make another great leap in the advancement of our chapter,” said Morgan, the Colgate chapter president. “As a chapter, we will now reach out to our benefiting rare disease research organization to develop a relationship and put in place fundraising techniques that will allow us to raise more support in effort to finding a cure for our rare disease, Neuroblastoma.”

If you would like to help Colgate football, in their effort, to find a cure for Neuroblastoma, you can visit the their “Lift for Life” website at www.liftforlife.upliftingathletes.org.
