Beyond the Court: "Cruising with K-Mo"
Moser
By Jennifer Brown
There’s nothing typical about Colgate University and its students, let alone its student-athletes. In between 6 a.m. conditioning runs; agility training; individual skill development; weightlifting training, practices and competing at the highest level in their respective sports, Colgate student-athletes find the time to excel in the classroom and their fields of studies. “Beyond the Court” is the latest and greatest in-depth look into current women’s basketball player’s extracurricular activities and community service.

The first edition of “Beyond the Court” highlights senior forward Krista Moser ’11. Moser, also referred to as “K-Mo” by those who know her best, played a pivotal role in doubling the women’s basketball team’s win total from the season before. She started 17 of 29 games, led the team in rebounding averaging 5.3 boards and led the Raiders in scoring five times. Her contagious enthusiasm for the game has been recently spotted cruising around the Galapagos Islands. Moser is one of seven Colgate students and three alumni that are taking part in a month-long research cruise, where they map the ocean floor and collect rock samples.

The Colgate undergraduates took a seminar last semester with geology professor Karen Harpp that included instruction by other researchers from Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, the University of Idaho, Redlands University, and the University of Paris.

Moser is “super excited for the cruise, bonding with her fellow scientists and getting to know the crew!”

Although the ship doesn't have a basketball hoop, K-Mo is committed to her training, running on the ship's deck, training on a stair climber and lifting free weights.
