HAMILTON, N.Y. (7/14/10) - The Colgate University athletics department has named Keith Tyburski, the men’s head golf coach. Tyburski served as the Raiders interim head coach last fall and led the team to a first-place finish at the Colgate Invitational.
“I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity Colgate has provided me,” said Tyburski. “I look forward to working with the team and helping them mature and develop both on and off the course.”
Tyburski, a native of Hamilton, graduated from Western Carolina in 2006 and played professionally on various mini circuits across the country. While playing pro, he worked with renowned golf trainer Jack Lumpkin, who has mentored such players as Davis Love III, Jonathan Byrd as well as other PGA Tour pros.
During his collegiate career, Tyburski recorded a win at the 2004 Western Carolina Intercollegiate Invitational and placed in the top-10 four times for the Catamounts. He was also named to the all-Southern Conference academic team four times and was the 2005-06 student athlete athletic counsel representative.
Tyburski’s parents have both worked for Colgate for several years. Marcelle Tyburski is the director of financial aid and Bob a ’74 graduate of Colgate is vice president and senior advisor.
