Defense Looks Strong in Football Scrimmage
FB
HAMILTON, N.Y. (8/21/10) – The Colgate football team held its second scrimmage of the week Saturday afternoon in cool muggy conditions at Andy Kerr Stadium. The Raiders opened the practice with seven-on-seven passing drills before the start of the scrimmage.

During the scrimmage the first-team offense faced the first-team defense, while the second-team offense went up against the second-team defense. The first-defense prevailed on numerous occasions, including two interceptions, one returned for a touchdown.

Senior linebacker Chris DiMassa (Coatesville, Pa.) recorded the first interception when he read the play and caught the ball in-stride to return it for a touchdown. The second pick was snagged by sophomore Patrick Friel (St. Charles, Ill.).

Sophomore linebacker John Tinkham (Evanston, Ill.) headlined the second-team defense with a pick-six during the final series.

Colgate will practice again on Sunday at 6:30 p.m., before entering its final week of camp.
