Bigelow Named Director of Basketball Operations

HAMILTON, N.Y. (9/2/10) - Colgate head basketball coach Emmett Davis has announced that Ryan Bigelow has been hired as the Director of Basketball Operations.
Bigelow joins the Colgate staff from Central Michigan University where he served as a student assistant for the past two seasons. Bigelow graduated from CMU in August 2010 with a bachelor’s degree in physical education with a minor in athletic coaching. Prior to his stint as a student assistant, Bigelow served as an assistant freshman boy’s coach at both Mount Pleasant Sacred Heart (2008-09) and Alma High School (2007-08).
“Ryan impressed us during the search and interview process with his enthusiasm and determined focus on becoming a college basketball assistant,” stated coach Davis. “His responsibilities as a student assistant under head coach Ernie Ziegler at Central Michigan will mesh nicely with what our expectations will be for Ryan in his role at Colgate as our Director of Basketball Operations.”
Bigelow played high school basketball at Greenville High School in Greenville, Michigan graduating in 2004 and played AAU basketball for Team United from Grand Rapids Michigan. During the summer of 2007, Bigelow enlisted in the United States Coast Guard Reserve and continues active involvement.
As Colgate’s Director of Basketball Operations, Bigelow will be responsible for numerous administrative duties including coordinating team travel and meals, overseeing film exchange for opponent scouting, assisting in monitoring the academic support program and organization of the recruiting database.
