HAMILTON, NY (9/7/10) – Senior captain and goalie Kirsten Lalli (Pound Ridge, N.Y.) became the first Colgate field hockey player to earn back-to-back Patriot League Goalie of the Week honors after a 48-save week.
Lalli stopped 20 shots in the 4-1 loss to Northwestern on Monday, Aug. 30, and set her new career-high this past Saturday at Rider. She pushed aside 21 shots in the 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Broncs and finished the weekend with seven stops on Sunday in a 5-1 loss to Monmouth.
She leads the league in saves per game with 13 and has the only shutout among goalies after a 5-0 blanking of Robert Morris a couple of weeks ago. Lalli is first in save percentage at .788 and fourth in goals against average with a mark of 4.50. She has played the most minutes among conference netminders as well.
Lalli has blown away the competition in saves with 52 on the year, as the closest league goalkeeper is Jessica Miller at Lehigh with 22.
The Raiders will be back on the road this weekend as Colgate heads to Connecticut to face Yale on Saturday at noon, followed by a 1 p.m. start with Quinnipiac.
