Q: I get e-mail press releases and RSS feeds from many sources, but can't seem to find that for one or all sports at Colgate. Any chance we might be getting more "fed" athletic releases rather than requiring us to remember to come to the Colgate web site?
A: "Most of our coaches send sport specific updates to members of their support groups. At this time we do not have plans to email releases directly."
Q: I was recently in the Colgate bookstore and noticed many athletic t-shirts that had a “Raider Nation” logo. Is this a new moniker we are looking looking to labelon our fan base as it seems a direct parallel with another famous “Nation” of Major League Baseball.
“Raider Nation” is a term that our Rowdy Raider Student Fan group has used on occasion and it has been picked up by the bookstore because of interest beyond students."
Q: Why does the men's tennis team have an away invitational on parents weekend? Why does the men's tennis team have to pay for their own uniforms? Why can't the tennis matches be televised like the other sports?
A: "Unfortunately many of our teams play away on Homecoming and Family weekend because of scheduling issues based on league and regional events. The tennis team is provided uniforms, practice gear etc. On occasion some captains or seniors work on ordering other clothing that the student-athletes buy on their own. At this time Time Warner Cable Sports only has interest in televising certain sports based on viewership."
Q: Can't one of the two Monmouth games in Hamilton be moved to New Jersey? Would be great to add another New York-area game. Isn't it usually home-and-home?
A: "We are playing Monmouth two years in a row at home because we are trying to balance the number of home and away games in a given year."
Q: We've noticed the new lights at Andy Kerr. Are these for night practices, or do you envision night games in the future?
Also, not a question but an observation: The player banners at Andy Kerr are showing wear. Check out Jamal Branch (25) to confirm.
A: "The lights at Andy Kerr have been a great addition to the stadium. They have allowed many of our teams to make greater use of the field turf field. We will begin playing some early season night games in September of 2009."
